May+Spay+Memorial+Babies!

Journal Entry: Wed May 7, 2008, 4:44 PM
Well... My little Lilith is at the vet now for her surgery. Its only a spay, but still, I'm nervous out of my mind. Its the longest my baby has been away from me in months. And the longest she's been away from her sister since.. well.. she was born. I'll be getting a call form them after she gets out of surgery at 1pm to let me know how she's doing. And if all goes well, I can pick her up between 5 and 7pm. Thats almost 12 hours out of the house. =(

On another note, May 17th marks the end of my 5th year here on deviantart, and its been a real experience to remember. I've met lots of awesome people, and discovered myself in the years I've been here. It was a crutch through some of the worst times of my life, and I love you guys for it. Thanks for being so cool.

Speaking of the worst of times, May 13th marks the 4th year since my mother passed away from Cancer. This is why smoking is bad for you. She smoked when I was younger, and it killed her. She got cancer in her lungs, and it spread to her brain. It looked like she was doing well, and was finally regaining motor skills after suffering a stroke caused by all the chemo and medication, and then she developed a tumor in a place that was impossible to treat without killing her, so she died at the age of 58. It was agony for me to watch such a strong and vibrant woman waste away like she did. I still beat myself up for distancing myself from her like I did at the end, when she probably needed me most. Its not something I can forgive myself for doing. Please think twice before lighting up that next cigarette.

RIP Gerri Barist --- 26 Jun 1946 to 13 May 2004

You are missed and loved every day, and forever.:heart::heart:

I'm going to have to end this journal now because the screen is becoming blurry, and its making it hard to me to type. Thank you all for listening and being here for me all these years. :blowkiss:

UPDATE:
My kitty is home, and she's doing just fine. Thanks for all the words of support and comfort. She's still whacked out from the sedatives (Wobbling like a drunk man, falling asleep in her food bowl. ) but she's going to make a full recovery!

Here is a picture of her with her stitches, showing off her sexily shaved belly. :flirty:

UPDATE2:I just got a call 2 hours ago from my best friend Elly! She's gone into labor, and should be giving birth to no doubt a beautiful baby boy any time now! Everybody mentally send her good vibes. This pregnancy has been rough on her.

I should have baby pictures soon! Her husband has a whole bunch on his cell phone and will be emailing some my way as soon as they figure out how to send from the phone to the emails! It is a 7+ lb baby boy, with dark blue eyes, and brown hair. The delivery went relatively smoothly, apart from some tearing, which can be normal. She thanks you all for the well wishes, and good karma. :aww:

My condolences with regards to your mother... I lost mine too when I was 7.

As for your kitty cat, I totally understand... the longest we've been away from Chiko and Perry was prior to our flight from Hong Kong to the US. Keith and I wanted to take a little getaway before leaving so we stayed for almost a week at at lovely hotel. During that time the kitties were at the kennels of our agent who specifically manages in pet traveling. They were very well-taken care of, and the little crates they were put int for the flight were adorable... all lined with baby napkins in case they might pee, and with a little water trough that had a funnel leading to it from outside the cage.

That was almost a week of not being with them. We missed them terribly :(

And of course when they were fixed, that wasn't so bad though, only half a day.

I'm sure Lilith will be fine

 Her sister is taking it worse than I am. They have never been separated before today in the two years I've had them, and probably since the day they were born since they both came from the same litter. It must be terribly difficult traveling with animals like that. I've only traveled with on animal before, and that was when I flew from NY to FL when I moved. But I wasn't even away from him then. I paid to have him as my carry on. His ticket cost $20 more than mine did, and he got to sit in his carrier under the seat in front of me. I was surprised he behaved so well. Not a peep from him the entire time. He sure was happy to get out of that carrier at the new place though.

The vet got me worried, because they were running late, and I didn't know. Cause they said they'd be calling after her surgery around 1pm, and well, its almost 3pm, and she's just going into surgery now. xD I only know because I just called them to see if everything was alright.

It must have been terrible to lose your mom so young. =( I actually consider myself lucky in that aspect. She could have gotten the cancer when I was 4, because she smoked long before she adopted me, so it could have happened at any time when I was a child. I really lucked out to have her through my teens.

 Thank you for the kind words.

I'm surprised you're able to have am animal as carry on. It's different with every airline though. Our kitties cost the same price as one economy ticket from Hong Kong to LA. The kitties were the last to get on the plane, and the first to get off, and all the while they were at the very front of the plane, in a temperature control centre. I asked the stewardess and she said they're pretty much right below where we were in Business. So that was somewhat comforting. That and cats just go to sleep when they're scared, they're usually very good travelers. They were so happy to see us though when they finally got off the plane :)

It'll be awesome, when she's all doped out afterwards. I love when my cats were high. It's hilarious, the things they do. Their eyes are so dilated and they stumble a lot.

She'll be fine  They're supposed to call you when the surgery is done! :P

 They ended up calling at 5pm when the surgery was done because they got a late start because they had a few emergencies. But she's home safe now, and wobbling around like a drunk old bum. :lmao: When I had him as a carry on I flew with Continental. They allow up to three animal in cabin on select flights. It was actually cheaper for me to take him in cabin with me, because then I didn't need a health certificate to say he was healthy enough to be left on the runway before being loaded onto the plane. He just needed to appear healthy to anyone who asked to see him. Which he was, because he was still a baby at the time, and had been to the vet three weeks before, but health certificates can't be more than a week old, so I save some money there. Plus, I felt more comfortable with him with me, so I could make sure he was ok. I'm like.. an overcontrolling mother. lol

I wish we had the cats with us during our flight :/ However I'm sure Cathay Pacific's concern was people who might be allergic to cats.

WHO CARES.

Fuck em.

Yeah. That was probably a concern for them, since it must have been a much longer flight than mine which was only three hours. Plus, I'm pretty sure Continental Airlines has a little * when booking flights saying that some flights may have animal passengers.. or something.
